오아시스(Oasis) 덕분에 망하지 않고 꾸준히 책을 내는 것 같은 NME가 2012년 6월 23일자 특집기사로 ‘최고의 노래 100곡’을 선정했습니다. 타이틀만 슬쩍 바꿔가면서 여러 번 활용했던 아이템이죠. 그냥 NME의 연간차트정도로 받아들이는 게 더 좋을 것 같습니다. 이번에는 미국 시장을 조금 더 많이 의식한 것 같군요. 상위권에 비치 보이스와 밥 딜런, 그리고 58년 개띠 3인방인 마이클 잭슨, 마돈나, 프린스가 보입니다. 라나 델 레이의 ‘Video Games'를 35위에 올려놓은 것도 놀랍습니다. 반면에 퀸과 레드 제플린, 핑크 플로이드, 유투의 이름은 보이질 않습니다. NME가 별로 좋아하지 않는 팀들이죠.

오아시스 노래는 2곡이 100위권에 들었습니다. ‘Wonderwall’이 10위, ‘Live Forever’가 37위입니다. 리스트는 매우 평범하지만, 중간에 좀 깨는(?) 노래를 발견하는 재미가 쏠쏠합니다. 이 곡들을 처음부터 끝까지 다 들으면 머리가 아플 것 같습니다. 차트의 디테일이 필요한 시점이군요.
